The first semi final of the Duleep Trophy, which is going on in between the East Zone and West Zone at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, is dominated by West Zone on the first day. It was the superb performance by Ramesh Pawar, who took 6 wickets, which brought East Zone to the back foot.
West Zone won the toss today and elected to field first. Batting first East Zone collapsed in front of the Pawar and company and made only 171 runs. Parida was the top scorer who made 63 runs. Other than him only Chakrabarty, SS Tiwary, H Das, MK Tiwary and Dinda crossed the double finger mark.
Pawar took 6 wickets and Trivedi took 2 wickets, while Kulkarni and Nayar took one wicket each.
Replying to this West Zone started badly, they lost the wicket of the in form Jaffer while there score was only 5 runs. Finally at the end of the day West Zone able to make 102 runs at the loss of two wickets. The other batsman who became out is Rahane. He made 23 runs. Thaker was unbeaten at 42, while Pujara is at 34. Both the wicket was taken by RR Bose.
