The 2-1 lost to the Sri Lankan team costs Shoaib Malik, yesterday Pakistan Cricket Board sacked him as the skipper of the Pakistan national team. Younis Khan has been appointed as the new skipper of the Pakistan Cricket team.

Younis has turned down the offer of the captaincy in past twice, will lead the team in the two test matches home series against the same opponent Sri Lanka. Younis will lead the team in both the format of the cricket that is ODI as well as Test.

This result came after the so called worst ODI defeat of the Pakistan team in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. In the series of three matches Pakistan were ahead by 1-0, but lost the last two games.

“We asked Shoaib Malik to step down as captain. He agreed and only then did we appoint Younis Khan as captain of Pakistan,” Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, told reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
