| Bangladesh win by 7 wickets |
Winning the toss, captain Ashraful choose to field first. New Zealand started off the day very bad when the lost too many wickets in quick succession. To start the proceeding for Bangla was Masrafe Mortaza. He was splendid with four wickets to his tally. First he removed the batting piller of the Kiwi team Brandon McCullam by tempting him to slash at a delivery which was very wide. Then he along with Abdur Razzak removed the top order at a score of only 79. New Zealand was reduced to 79/6 by the Bangladeshi Bowlers. Then came a good partnership of Oram and Vettori who added valuable 70 runs before felling cheaply in the 41st over. On the chase, Bangladesh started off with a flier when stylish Tamim Iqbal smashed Mills to the mid-wicket fence. But he was tamed by the same bowler forcing him to play an unauthentic slash outside off to give a dolly to Styris. A good partnership between Siddique and Rahim set the tone for the Bangladesh. They added valuable runs for the team. After that it was all on to the captain. And Mohd. Ashraful did not disappoint his fans. He remained unbeaten on 60 and was his team home with 27 balls to spare. Junaid Siddique was the star of the day with his patient 85 runs which made it look the run chase too easy for the home team. Jacob Oram’s 89 runs went In vain. Bangladesh went 1-0 up in the series.
