Australia in the driver’s seat, ended the day on a high note:
Another exhilarating day has ended. Today the cricket has seen lots of ups and downs here at the chinnaswamy stadium, Bangaluru. In the fourth day of the match, it appears as if India is out of the equation unless they play some miraculous cricket over the last day. Australia is in a commanding position with a healthy lead of 263 runs. But at one point it seemed as if India would be in a position to win the match after the lunch. But the good counter attack from Haddin and Watson has burried that possibility and has put Australia in a commanding position.
Today Zaheer started from the same position on which he left the innings last day. Resuming the day’s score of 313/8, India came up with a modest batting display at the end of the innings. Both Kumble and Ishant gave Zaheer good company. At last India was bundled in 360 runs. Zaheer Khan was the highest scorer for India with 57 not out. Johnson was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets to his wicket tally. Watson took three crucial Indian wickets. Clarke chipped in with 2 wickets with his wrist spin.

This was an awesome day of test match. It had everything in it. The Aussies were brilliant with the bat specially Mike Hussey with his century rocked the match. Indian fast bowler made a strong remark with the new as well as old ball. Both the bowlers were awesome with the ball. Zaheer took five wicket haul where Ishant ended up with four wickets to his tally. The only wicket taken by the two spinners was of Ricky Ponting who was trapped in front of the wicket by Harbhajan Singh yesterday.

Resuming the score of 254/4 Australia did not start off the day very well. They lost Watson earlier than expected. Then there was a partnership between Haddin and Hussey. They put up a valuable 89 runs stand between them. But just when it seemed the match is going out of the hand, Ishant Sharma came up with a brilliant slower to fool Haddin and send him back to the pavilion. The debutant Cameron White was not too impressive with his bat today. On the other end, Hussey kept ticking the scorecard. He scored briskly of the bad balls and defended the good balls too. He seems to have got the mastery over building partnerships with the tail enders. He and Brett Lee put on another 60 runs partnership for Australia. But the partnership was broken by Zaheer who then finished off the tail in the span of three overs. Hussey was the last man to be dismissed on the score of 146. Aussies were bundled out for 430 just after the tea break.

First day of play :~

It had all the elements, both cricketing and non-cricketing too. Today Ponting registered his one milestone here at the Chinnaswamy stadium with a century that looked well deserved with the way of preparation. Indian pace attack did not let down the captain with three wickets in such a pitch where there was nothing for the faster bowlers when the shine of the ball was gone after the early over. Good batting as well as good bowling made the first day of the test match a treat to watch.
