First test victory of India against Pak in Kotla

India won the first test against Pakistan on Monday by six wickets taking the lead in the three match series. India played 405 Tests since June 25, 1932, winning 90. This is only the second instance of India successfully chasing down a 200-plus target at home. The first was in the Mumbai Test against Australia in 1964-65.

The Pakistan team had put a target of 203, coasted to the win with six wickets in hand after needing just an additional 32 runs for victory on the fifth day. India scored the required 32 runs in exactly 32 minutes and in 6.2 overs on the final day, after resuming on 171 for 3 in 54.5 overs.

India made 276 all out in reply to Pakistan’s first innings 231 and then dismissed them for 247. India leg spinner and the captain for the series, Anil Kumble had completed match figures of seven for 106.of course, he is declared as man of the match.

This match proved to be a winning start for the Indian captain Anil Kumble. He had proved on the pitch and act wisely as a skipper also. The ground was also known for his world record of 10 wickets haul of the same opponent. This ground has also produced one record for Kumble of taking 50 wickets in only 6 matches.
